The Epoch of Undine, Age of Undine, or Era of Undine, were all names given to the same time period in Echelon's history. The Epoch began at the end of the Meloran Crisis with the apotheosis of the goddess Undine. It lasted for an indeterminate amount of time.

Like the goddess herself, the era was one of change and progress. With the end of the Light Age, Undine's arrival on the cosmological plane signaled a new era. There was more rapid progress, development, and general overall change in the societies, technology, and even landmasses of the planet and its inhabitants during the Epoch than in any other time in Echelon's history.

Significant Events ----

The arrival of the Epoch coincided with significant changes in Echelon:

  • 1 UE: The Stygian Lands are torn asunder by the Spiral. Thousands die as the small continent becomes a hurricane-battered archipelago in a matter of months.
  • 3 UE: The Glaciermaw freezes over. Sea travel north of Pitharas is rendered impossible by the expanding ice shelf.
  • 9 UE: The tabaxi hero Cuahatemoc conquers all of Zatal and becomes Empress.
  • 11 UE: Valenrode declares independence from the Glavian Empire.
  • 12 UE: After 8 months of fighting, Valenrode is recognized as an independent state by Glavia.
  • 20 UE: The Glavian Empire enters a period of collapse. Ixien, Northern Antipode, and the Esteen Hegemony leave the Empire. Dalriatan highlanders and lowlanders emigrate back to Lochhold, rediscovering old lifeways and clan heritages previously thought stamped out under Glavian rule.
  • 35 UE: The sea elf Strongwater Dynasty, a fixture of Island politics for nearly 4,000 years, falls. Sea elves begin to form small factions and alliances, and fighting is frequent.
  • 77 UE: Glavian machinists discover paraffin.
  • 109 UE: The Stigmata Garrison disbands. The Black Fortress in the Blister, the outpost at Leomund Academy, and the whirlpool of Nenth'an'rond are all abandoned.
  • 145 UE: The Lochhold War splinters the Dalriatan clans.
  • 166 UE: Magicite is invented in Valenrode.
  • 168 UE: The Magicite War devastates Almantha. Hundreds of thousands of "spent" magicite shards end up in landfills and in the ocean.
  • 191 UE: Five young people from the Dalriatan town of Saoirse begin exploring Lochhold.
