Astral diamond

Astral diamonds were naturally-occurring minerals infused with residuum. When Ioun brought magic into the world of Echelon, these rare gemstones began to form in the crust of the planet. Prized for their magical applications, they were highly sought after by wizards.

Famous Astral Diamonds

• The Calico Stone, a dappled diamond about the size of a human fist. It played a significant role in the world's history, including the Ultima War.
• The Heart of Moradin, a massive, half-ton golden stone occluded with residuum. It protected Galvanheim during the Dark Age until its destruction in 797 DA.
• The Quiverstone, an ancient treasure of Elder City with alternating blue and white facets. It was drained of all its power in 642 DA by the strain of powering Lionni's divine shield.
• The Violet Angel, a small, erratically-shaped, opaque purple diamond. It was used as a focus for the wizard Leomund, and later used to protect Kodonholm.
