Residuum

Residuum was the name given to a dust-like substance that contained raw magic. It was highly sought after by wizards, alchemists, and engineers, and it had a number of applications. Most societies considered residuum to be contraband, and its sale and distribution was usually closely regulated, if not made illegal outright.
