Herald (angel)

Herald was the Common name for a particular angelic being. He and his lover, Hark, were first noted as figures fighting in the Dawn War, until Hark betrayed Herald and imprisoned him in a magic sword.

Herald would exist for some 7,000 years as a prisoner inside the sword, seeking a worthy soul to release him from the blade. Finally, in 2355 LA, the paladin Jacques managed to complete a lengthy ritual and freed Herald. As a reward, Herald ascended Jacques into Arcadia, and established him as an exarch there.
