Stigmata Garrison

The Stigmata Garrison was a loosely-connected order of soldiers whose primary role was to defend the Material Plane from extraplanar interference or invasion. Originally stationed at the Leomund Academy ruins by the armies of the Dragon Federation as a severe punishment, the Garrison grew so important in the aftermath of the Planar Wars that they became their own organization, independent of any political entity.

At its height, the Stigmata Garrison guarded dozens of permanent planar portals, including fey and shadow crossings. Famous examples of the former included the great whirlpool Nenth'anrond, the fire-choked Blister volcano, and the rift to the Elemental Demiplane of Ice at Leomund.
