Kord was the storm god and the lord of battle. He was classified as a Transcendant Celestial, though he did occasionally (if rarely) see fit to speak to his followers on the Material Plane.

History

Kord, known in some circles as Trithereon, reveled in strength, individuality, and self-defense. The fighters and athletes of Echelon revered him. The more religious of the githzerai race revered Kord as Zuoken, a deity of physical and mental mastery.

Kord struck a vicious blow with his thundering spear, Gungnir, against the Prime Evil Bane in the Dawn War. Whereas Gruumsh and Corellon fought and wounded each other, there was no record of Bane landing a blow in the duel against Kord—a silent testament, perhaps, of the thunder god’s sheer martial power.

Dogma and Followers

Kord gave few commands, usually in verbal tradition:

  1. Be strong, but do not use your strength for wanton destruction.
  2. Be brave and scorn cowardice in any form.
  3. Prove your might in battle to win glory and renown.

Kord was a foe of evil and slavery. He loved liberty and the power of the individual; ergo, he was sometimes depicted as a friendly but spirited rival to Erathis. Paladin avengers often chose to follow Trithereon, aligning with his values of retribution and battle prowess. Even evil warriors acknowledged Kord in song, though they were more likely to draw inspiration from dark deities like Bane, with whom Kord was eternally at odds.

Personality

Kord was sometimes seen as a mercurial god, unbridled and wild, who summoned storms over land and sea; those who hoped for better weather appeased him with prayers and spirited toasts. However, there were manuscripts who describe Kord as a patient hunter as well as a thundering warrior.
