The Platinum Code was a set of moral commandments laid down by Bahamut, god of war, justice, and light. It was a collection of thirteen strict chivalrous principles, dictating behavior for followers of Bahamut (especially paladins) in their daily lives.

The Code's Commandments

  • First, to protect the weak and defenseless
  • Second, to serve in valor and faith
  • Third, to despise pecuniary reward
  • Fourth, to guard the honor of all
  • Fifth, to obey those in authority
  • Sixth, to eschew deceit
  • Seventh, to persevere to any agreeable end
  • Eighth, to respect an enemy without fear
  • Ninth, to never refuse a challenge from an equal
  • Tenth, to never turn the back to a foe
  • Eleventh, to love mercy
  • Twelfth, to ferret out injustice
  • Thirteenth, to temper all with moderation
