Bahamut, also known as the Platinum Dragon, was a god of light and war in Echelon. He was one of the four Creative Celestials that fashioned the world.

History

Bahamut was rarely known to speak to mortals, but when he did, he spoke clearly and commanded plainly. All of Bahamut's followers were required to obey a strict code of justice. Bahamut was the patron of dragonborn and metallic dragons, acknowledged by multiple sources as the creator of the oldest race in the world. The Platinum Dragon was the eternal nemesis of Tiamat, his “sister” and hated rival in the Nine Hells.

Dogma and Followers

Like the thunder god Kord, Bahamut preferred deeds over words. He was revered by almost all dragonborn, regardless of alignment toward good or evil. For this reason, dragonborn the world over sought to prove themselves with deeds—though some misused the name of their patron deity. Bahamut was a champion of justice and truth, and never tolerated oppression, disloyalty, or bloodlust. Some mortals, however, invoked Bahamut’s name in the cause of unjust war and foul deeds. Bahamut valued wisdom, fairness, and mercy, but tasked the faithful with “just war against darkness”.

Bahamut's primary teachings were laid down in the Platinum Code, which was usually found inscribed in the draconic language in stone or metal.

Personality

The Platinum Dragon rarely interfered with the lives of mortals, unless his involvement directly opposed Tiamat’s schemes. He preferred to guide his followers through exarchs and metallic dragons, acknowledging that the mortal races had to be free to make their own paths in the world. He was a staunch ally of Kord, deferring to the thunder god’s strength but asserting his own supremacy in wisdom.
