Bolt (Key to Infinity piece)

The Bolt was the name given to the end of the Key to Infinity. It was a small cylinder, much like a tumbler lock, with an opening on one of its surfaces. This opening was the receptacle for the Bit and subsequently connected it with the rest of the Key.

The Bolt was lost when the Thaedran dreadnought Cry Havoc crashed into the Stygian Lands, causing the Spiral. It was the subject of Stygian folklore for hundreds of years; would-be emperors and warlords fought over the Bolt's powers in the latter half of the Light Age. Despite the wielder always falling into ruin-- political or personal-- after a time, it was often seen as a symbol of leadership for the Stygian Lands.

Powers

When separated from the Key, the Bolt allowed its wearer to cast the spells arcane lock and charm person, requiring no material components. However, the Bolt was also cursed; use of these spells would siphon negative energies to the wearer, bringing ill omens and general bad luck.
