The Whispering Lights, or aurora susurro, were an aerial phenomenon which occurred in a mathematical sequence as a result of the failing of the chronomancy which held the pocket dimension together. A side effect of the appearance of the Lights was an increase in the potency of certain magical effects and conditions.
