Air Rules

The Air Rules were a set of unilateral demands placed upon all peoples who lived on the surface of the world. These, coupled with the Ground Rules, established expectations that the Thaedran Imperium (654 LA - c. 2000 LA) would have uninterrupted control of the skies, and in return, would not interfere in the nations and peoples of the ground.

The writing of both sets of Rules officially ended a brief conflict between the Imperium, the Arlanestran Territories, and the Kessler Dominion in 655 LA. However, individuals and organizations would still violate the Air Rules throughout their existence, though it usually meant swift reprisal from the increasingly isolationist and xenophobic Imperium.

Text of the Air Rules

In order that life may be continued and a balance kept, the sovereign Thaedran Imperium does hereby establish and expect these Air Rules:

  1. No sovereign nation, nor an organization or individual member of a sovereign nation, is permitted to use artificial or arcane means to rise to an elevation higher than 200 feet above the level of the ground.
  2. Mechanically and magically powered flying apparatuses are prohibited by all who are born on the ground.
  3. Ground-based constructions shall not exceed 500 feet above the level of the ground or 7,000 feet above the level of the sea, whichever is lower.
  4. Both travel through and dwelling in the skies by any creature nonnative to the skies, via any means, is a violation of these Rules.
  5. The Thaedran Imperium and all its territories are not to be contacted, accessed, or scryed upon by any means.
  6. The Thaedran Imperium reserves the right to respond to violations of the aforementioned Rules with lethal or coercive force.
