The Sealing was a cosmic, physical, and fundamental event that occurred approximately 3,000 years before the start of the Middle Era. The Sealing prevented any being of a sufficient power from walking directly on the Material Plane. This prevented direct manipulation of (and assistance to) mortals by divine beings, and all forms of open and direct warfare between those beings in Echelon. The Sealing was bypassed in 855 ME by Vecna through necromancy; however, the gods utilized this prophesied event to destroy him via the Determined.
