Zinrora Tyrros, most often shortened to just Zin, was a half-elf adventurer, bard, and hero. She was most famous for her deeds as a crewmember of the ships Mimic's Heart and Stardragon's Ruby.

Zin was a player character played by Kelsee Herrick.

History

Early Life

Zin was born in Tengun Tower, a small city on Zephyrwisp Isle in the Stardragon Sea, in 2330 LA. Her natural charm and beauty captivated many in Tengun Tower, and her studies at the Deliria College of Glamour sharpened her abilities. Zin's promiscuity eventually got her into significant trouble, however, as during her graduation ceremony from the bard college, she was caught in bed with a high-ranking member of the Tengun Tower parliament, who happened to be married to a College professor.

Shamed and disgraced by Zin's indiscretion, the College banished Zin from the city in order to avoid a political scandal. Zin would reluctantly return several years later to find that a rival bard, Sabine Phannara, had helped orchestrate Zin's removal from the city.

Mutiny on the Peregrine

After Zin left Tengun Tower, she worked for a year as a traveling performer throughout the Stardragon Sea, booking passage on various ships as she went. Eventually, Zin was hired for her skill with magic to protect the merchant ship Peregrine, bound from the city of Aquidium to the small port of Megea on the 1st of Frostdawn, 2348. Also on the ship were the tiefling Haxifal and the sea elf Undine, who would later become Zin's adventuring partners and closest friends.

Two days into their journey, when Zin discovered the presence of human cargo in the hold of the Peregrine, she helped Undine and Hax stage a mutiny. Outnumbered and overpowered, the surviving crew of the Peregrine eventually surrendered to the freed slaves and Zin's group. An attack by the pirate ship Seahag caught the inexperienced crew off-guard, and the Peregrine was scuttled near the coast of Canticle Island. The survivors, led by Undine, had to cling to pieces of flotsam and makeshift rafts to reach the Canticle coast.

Voyages on the Mimic's Heart

After arriving in Megea, Zin, Undine, and Hax teamed up with another tiefling, Saint, who had recently come into possession of a treasure map. The four of them began their adventures on the 5th of Frostdawn, 2348.

Zin and her band acquired an old caravel in payment from the Crown Alliance for uncovering a plot by Lord Berkenhall, a Megean noble, to experiment with a massive, manor-sized mimic. Refurbishing and naming the vessel the Mimic's Heart as a tongue-in-cheek reference to their victory over Berkenhall, the four sailors set out with a small crew to find adventure on the high seas.

Zin grew in power and poise throughout the voyages of the Mimic's Heart, which included foiling a plot by Sabine Phannara to control the Stardragon Sea, defeating the notorious pirate captain of the Seahag, and ending the Zhentarim rule of Tengun Tower.

Battle With Seaeater

Their adventures culminated in late 2349, when the Mimic's Heart fought against a grand conspiracy to awaken the ancient titan Seaeater, a kraken prophesied to destroy the ocean. Zin's party failed, and was forced to launch a desperate attack to banish Seaeater from the Material Plane. The Mimic's Heart, equipped with a residuum-powered cannon, and her crew managed to wound Seaeater, enabling Saint to use the artifact Bloodcharm to banish the kraken out of Echelon. The ship was scuttled in the process, and only by Undine's magic did the crew escape being lost at sea afterward.

After the encounter with Seaeater, the crew of the Mimic's Heart went their separate ways for a time. Zin and Saint had begun to develop feelings for one another, but entered into an off-again, on-again relationship for the next five years. Zin worked primarily in Silvera as both its guardian and music star, in self-imposed penance for the manipulative actions of her former college, Sabine "The Luminary", in 2349.

The Stardragon's Ruby

In 2354, Haxifal embarked on a voyage to gather his old crew again. Undine, Saint, and Zin received missives from their old colleague Jacques to meet in their old stomping grounds of Silvera. However, when they arrived, it was Hax-- previously assumed lost in the Astral Plane-- who surprised them with a new ship, the Stardragon's Ruby. The Ruby was an old war vessel, refloated with help from the tabaxi off the coast of Zatal. It served as a new start for the adventurers, and their voyages in the Stardragon Sea (and beyond) began anew.

Zin's newfound sense of adventure carried her and her crew to several places in the following year. They visited the Shadowfell, crossed swords with the Glavian Empire, encountered Captain Calamity, matched wits with a vampire in Duskwood, and defeated a duergar warlord near Nem Daral. Their renown grew rapidly, and soon attracted the attention of powerful allies and enemies.

The King of Clubs

In spring of 2355, tragedy struck the group. Captain Undine had stolen he deck of many things from the Deathshead some months prior, and finally found a quiet moment to draw one of the cards. Her gamble did not pay off, as The Void trapped her soul in an obsidian sphere on the Elemental Plane of Earth. It would take Zin, Saint, and Hax an entire month to locate Undine's soul; together, they swore to stop at nothing to bring back their beloved friend and captain.

The going was not easy. Zin used every ounce of her charm to keep the crew of the Stardragon's Ruby together, while Saint took the burden of leadership upon herself. This put their rekindled relationship under significant strain, and the 16 months following Undine's disappearance was sometimes half-jokingly called the "year of hell" by Zin. The crew's morale remained at an all-time low, and only the loyalty and faith of Zin, Saint, and Hax kept an all-out mutiny at bay.

After their colleague, the bronze dragon Pjirrik, located Undine's soul via the ring of three wishes in his treasure hoard, the crew of the Ruby set out to find a way into the Plane of Earth. Their best hope came with the use of the Bloodcharm, the relic used years prior to trap Seaeater out of the Material Plane. A fierce battle between the djinn's forces and the Ruby broke out in the Plane of Earth, but in the end, Undine's obsidian sphere was recovered and her soul freed.

Voyage to Thracenwood and Marriage to Saint

In 2356, Zin and the others sailed to the Forgotten Continents, hearing rumors of a green dragon subjugating an entire kingdom there. Their efforts to loosen Kluthameer's hold on Thracenwood were met with deadly force, resulting in Undine and Zin being slain. Only by using expensive diamonds and Saint's magic were the pair able to be saved.

Meanwhile, the dozen other crewmembers of the Ruby, later referred to as the Tattered Twelve, disobeyed Saint's orders and marched on Kluthameer's lair without their heroic officers. Where Zin, Saint, Hax, and Undine had failed, the Tattered Twelve succeeded in slaying the adult green dragon and freeing Thracenwood from his grip forever. A weakened Undine, resurrected by Saint, chastised the group, but also thanked them for their efforts in meting out justice and vengeance.

The first annual Greensend Festival was held in the winter of early 2357. The kingdom of Thracenwood heralded the Stardragon's Ruby crew as heroes, celebrating their defeat of Kluthameer for decades afterward. It was there that Zin and Saint proposed to one another, and became wed on the deck of the Ruby by captain Undine.
