Ancient World

From Echelon
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The Ancient World was the name given for the period of time before the synchronization clause of the Juriatas Accord began a new historical era. It was used as a catch-all to encompass any time prior to the beginning of the Modern (later renamed Middle) Era.

Notation

The notation BME for the According Calendar System was the most widely used reference to the Ancient World. Any numbers, prior to the signing of the Juriatas Accord, were noted in ascending order of temporal distance from the Accord. Therefore, the notation 1200 BME would indicate a time in the Ancient World 1200 years before the signing of the Juriatas Accord and the adoption of the According Calendar System.

Timeframe

Since the primordial millennia of Echelon were so obscured in myth and legend, it was difficult to pin down exactly how much time had passed between the planet's creation and the Middle Era. Most sources, including the Moradindrian, admitted a span of no fewer than 6,000 years before recorded history began. However, the questions surrounding prehistorical time remained unsolved.
